大和で見た獅子座流星群を描いた。
外国出身の学術研究家としては初の文化勲章受章者、ドナルド・キーン著「このひとすじにつながりて」の本の表紙になった話題作。
天高く走り去っていく流れ星の煌めきに少しの切なさを感じつつもその美しさに目を奪われる。
「天翔る」とは時に神や霊魂のことを指す言葉で、神秘的な何かを感じさせる。

I feel a little sadness at the sparkle of the shooting stars running away high in the sky, but I am fascinated by their beauty.
"Heavenly soaring" is a word that sometimes refers to a god or a soul, and it makes you feel something mysterious.
